Are your expansions samples?

Our expansions are the result of weeks and months of our experienced modeling skills. Our mission is to provide completed custom modeled kits to save you long amounts of time. We provide the best alternative solution for live, gigging and recording drummers, without having to carry around laptops and computers to trigger external third party samples. Our expansions are far more flexible by being completely editable to your preference, as well as offering the ability to build your very own dream kits from our modeled components. Each kit we design is started from absolute scratch. No default kits are ever used in any way.

Do I lose factory or personal adjustments when I load my expansion?

You never lose "factory reset information". Personal adjustments could be lost without first backing up your current settings. This includes trigger adjustments you may wish to keep. We include detailed installation instructions in the our Expansion Manuals. Our QuickStart Guides and Expansion Manuals can be downloaded to learn more before making your purchase.

Can I edit these expansions?

Yes! Once loaded into your module, you may edit the expansion and all it's components however you like. Be careful to save your newly tweaked version of our expansion as an additional backup. Always keep your original downloaded zip file backed up to external long term storage.

My kit differs from yours. Can I still use your expansions?

Yes! If your setup is slightly different than our default kit, it will only require pad selection or minor trigger adjustments. In your module's trigger setup, you will simply choose your trigger layout. Each expansion's "setup information" can be found on our expansion pages. Remember, VDrumLib allows easy copying of "setup information", individual and bulk kits, with much more flexibility and speed than your module.

Will other pads such as Hart and Pintech work with your programming?

Yes. Trigger settings may need to be adjusted to match your personal setup in the module. You will need to discuss these adjustments with your trigger manufacturer.

Does your programming affect the response or dynamics of the Roland Modules?

Various volume and trigger adjustments may be changed. These changes are designed to improve playbility and expression of the expansion and module response. Some modules allow copying of individual kits which will preserve your personal trigger adjustments. Our guides include any optional types of loading for your module.

Will expansions sound the same on my module?

Our website sound samples are recorded directly from the module's master/digital outputs. The expansions will sound exactly the same on your module as ours. However, take into consideration how you are monitoring the samples at the computer, and at your module. If you listen to our samples at the computer through computer speakers, but then listen at the module through headphones or another monitoring setup (speakers, effects, etc.), the two will result in differences. It is recommended you listen to the samples through the same monitoring/headphones you will use with your kit. A quality sound card in your computer is also recommended. If in doubt, save our mp3s to listen somewhere you trust. (ie: any PA system you might use) Regardless, the expansions will still work perfectly. All users may need some personal adjustment for their personal monitoring setup. This is very common and a natural part of the process, as we all use different ways of monitoring our playing.

What do I need to install my expansion?

Installation will require connectivity from your computer via a midi interface, a CF or SD card & reader, or a USB port & memory stick. (please refer to your module's manual for the correct choice) Modules requiring midi connectivity via computer will require a transfer librarian such as VDrumLib (recommended) and a midi interface such as the Roland UM-ONE USB-to-MIDI interface cable. (recommended)

If you own a TD-20, you will simply need a 16-512mb CompactFlash card. A TD-20X can use a larger CF card up to 4gb. A TD-30 uses USB memory. A TD-50 uses SD memory.

Do I need larger than a 16mb CF card for the TD-20?

No. 16mb is plenty of memory to backup everything we have to offer and numerous patterns. A fast 16mb CF card will yield optimum performance results. We highly recommend seeking out 16-32mb cards from Amazon.
