The Metal Mania expansion pack for the Roland TD-9 module is a specially designed pack for recording and live use. For all experience levels and functionality, this pack will deliver a powerful enhancement to the TD-9.
Metal Mania features 20 modeled artist drum sets from their original recordings. Jam along with your favorite metal drummer on this pack. With 5 popular drummers from each decade starting with the 1970’s and ending in the year 2008, this pack gives you widely sought after drum sets for hard rock and metal use. We have also included 5 additional custom built kits for the Metal Head in you!
Crafted mainly using stereo headphones and studio quality monitors, these kits are designed for general use with your kit. Mixer settings have been optimized for stereo headphone and recording output use. As always, minor adjustments may be needed when recording and/or monitoring with headphones to suit your personal tastes.
Based on a standard set-up including Crash Two as a crash/splash/or china cymbal and Aux 1 programmed as crash/splash/ china cymbal or as a Tom 4; you’ll choose what version kit you want to load. All the kits are uniform in level and panning.
With all our packs, we highly recommend you load in our kits as a “Kits” Only backup, to preserve your custom created setup unique to your e-kit. We encourage you to make a back up of both your kits and setup(s) before executing our download to your module.
This pack features 2 backups as mentioned above. Both these backups include the programmed ride edge for use with the CY-12r/c or the CY-15r ride cymbals. For proper use of the 3 way triggering system, please refer to our manual for the correct plug insert options for your ride cymbal.
All toms have the rim trigger programmed as the acoustic rim sound when applicable. You'll be able to use these kits as a reference point to optimize your personal masterpieces.
All kits have been fashioned using the onboard sounds of the TD-9. These are not new samples or added third party material. The TD-9 is not capable of uploading new samples to its wave board. All sounds have been professionally formulated and highly tweaked for your satisfaction. You may notice an overall boost in the volume of the module versus the stock kits, as well as other enhancements to most of the instrumentation that make up these kits.
The Metal Mania expansion pack has been ear-created on the TD-9 from scratch on its own platform. All kits have been tested in a general use capacity . You will need a USB connection on your computer and a formatted USB Key (flash drive) to properly execute this download. Check your TD-9 manual for further requirements using a USB Key drive.

Notes: When using the CY12 r/c or a CY15R - you will use the cable that is labeled: CY12 R/C and insert it into the BOW/BELL input of the cymbal. The other cable will remain in the BOW/EDGE input of the cymbal.
Remember to load in the “Kits” only and not “All” info. If you load in “ All” info from the USB drive, you will lose your trigger setup and this pack will have serious level and balance issues. Read the loading instructions carefully and follow the steps precisely for a fluid, trouble free transfer |

Q: How is the kit arranged?
A: Our expansion packs are designed around default TD-9S setups. Custom auxillary inputs are noted below. (note, not all inputs or their programming are availbale to all modules)
Note to TD-9SX Owners: When loading our expansion, choose “KIT” to preserve current pad settings! This will ensure correct volume and pad settings!

Important note: Remember to change the module's pad settings to MATCH YOUR PADS. By doing so, the correct volumes and pad response will take affect for your module and setup.
Hint: Your setup does not have to match ours! If you have a different set up than default, you can easily move instruments around within each kit. This is accomplished by using the "COPY" feature in your module.
Q: How do I order and download my purchase?

Following payment, click "return to merchant" to continue to your download. If you are not forwarded correctly by PayPal to your download page, simply contact the programmer of your expansion to confirm payment and have your file(s) sent. Upon purchasing our products, please remember you agree to our no-share policy and End User License Agreement. Our products are considered software. We do not issue refunds.
Q: What are the TD-9 installation requirements?
A: Installation
requires an internet connection to purchase and download your file, a USB Memory key to transfer your expansion to your TD-9 module and a USB reader device attached to the computer to transfer your expansion to the USB key.
Q: How do I install my expansion?
A: Follow these simple steps:
Reminder! Save a backup of your module first to retain your setup, changes and other custom settings!
- Place your order from the expansion page and choose "Return to Vendor" to reach your download.
- Download the file to your desktop.
- Make a backup of this original to CD or another location for safe keeping.
- Extract the contents of the "zipped" file to your desktop.
- With your module formatted USB key card in a reader attached to your computer, simply drag the "backup" file from your new folder to the INSIDE of the TD9 folder on the card. (this folder is located inside the "Roland" folder)
- After closing the USB key window and removing the USB key card from the computer, power up the TD-9 module and insert the card following boot.
- Choose Setup > Utility > USB > Load > Backup
- Scroll to locate the backup/expansion you wish to load and press Load > Execute
- It's that simple!
