Incredible Tools!

V Expressions LTD proudly recommends VDrumLib as the ultimate preferred V-Drum Librarian!

Through its developmental partnership with VDrumLib, V Expressions LTD offers conversions of expansions for the TD-12 and TD-6 modules!

VDrumLib makes it easy to copy, paste, arrange and create custom backups -- without fear of overwriting your personal trigger settings, user patterns and output routings. Transfer libraries to your module with the MIDI I/O transfer tool! Copy effects and other settings that the module cannot! Supports: TD-20, TD-12, TD-10, TD-8, and TD-6.

NOTE: Due to recent issues with the M-Audio UNO, we highly recommending the Roland UM-1EX Midi Interface.

TD-12 FAQ's and Downloads:
Q: What do I need to install V Expressions expansions?

A: Installation requires MIDI connectivity from your personal computer via Firewire, USB or a PCI based midi interface. USB-to-Midi interface cables are available at most music stores for about $39. Alternatively, stand alone sequencers will also transmit our expansion packs. (please see Roland's directions for sequencer usage on page 75 of the TD-12 owner's manual)

The module doesn't seem to want to read the file when sending? In rare occassions, a simple tweak of your Windows XP background services may be required. This is a recommended tweak for better system performance and will usually remedy this problem. (Start>Control Panel>System>Advanced>Performance Settings>Advanced>)

Q: What is the primary difference between the TD-12 and TD-20 expansions?

A: All common settings between the two modules are exactly the same. The primary difference between the 12 & 20 modules will be the loss of reverb and other rarely used multi-effects the TD-12 does not offer. This is mainly limited to reverb in our expansions; however, there are other rarely used multi-effects not present. Any multi-effects that are not available on the TD-12 can easily be replaced with an outboard effects unit.

Q: Do the TD-12 Expansions sound like the TD-20 expansions?

A: Although the TD-12 houses the exact same wav board sound samples, it unfortunately does not offer all the same effects. Primarily, the main effect missing on drum kits is reverb. Reverb is only available on backing tracks. Ambience still covers most of the bases, but reverb effects will not be present. Rarely, some of the other effects would be missing as well. Any multi-effects that are not available on the TD-12 can easily be replaced with an external effects unit.

Q: Can the TD-12 Expansions sound like the TD-20 expansions?

A: Although the TD-12 does provide ambience effects, it does not produce the same results as the TD-20's mixture of ambience, reverb and other multi-effects not included on the TD-12. Theorhetically, the same result could be achieved with an external multi-effects or reverb unit. So, the answer is yes it can with an external reverb or multi-effects unit for some kits/instruments.

Q: Can the TD-12 save/load individual kits?

A: The TD-12 is designed to save and load individual kits. However; the process is not simple and the user must be very creative with the copy/exchange feature to build mixed backups. The module is only capable of saving and loading the individual kit in and out of the same patch number. In order to achieve a personal mix of kits a user may desire, extensive creative copying, exchanging, saving and loading will be required. More information can be found in your Roland TD-12 owner manual on page 70 & 75. Our simple description of this process can be found below.

V Expressions LTD highly recommends VDrumLib as the preferred V-Drum Librarian! This incredible application allows you to create custom drum kit libraries for your Roland V-Drum module. VDrumLib makes it easy to copy, combine, rename and rearrange your own kits -- all without fear of overwriting your personal trigger settings, user patterns, output routings, etc. You can even transfer the libraries to your module with the built-in MIDI I/O transfer!
